Culture Minister Abel Prieto is representing Cuba at the first World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue that began on Thursday and runs through Saturday in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan.
According to the website of the Cuban Foreign Ministry (www.cubaminrex.cu), Prieto is scheduled to meet with sculptor Kamil Veliyev, a member of the Association of Painters of Azerbaijan who participated in the 1983 creation of the monument dedicated to Vladimir Ilich Lenin, which is located at Havana’s Lenin Park.
The Cuban official will also visit the Museum of Miniature Books where he will be presented with a recent edition of a miniature book dedicated to the upcoming birthday of the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro.
This World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue is being held on the initiative of the Government of Azerbaijan and it is supported by the Council of Europe, UNESCO, and several international organizations.
The event was inaugurated by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev with the presence of leaders of international organizations, culture ministers from more than 20 countries, parliamentarians, diplomats and other political figures.
Cuba and Azerbaijan further strengthened their bilateral relations when Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez visited that nation last February, when he met with top national authorities.
